This quilt is named for the way the large squares kiss at the corners and are framed by the small squares. Dramatic in black and white, sweet in florals - perfect for any fabric collection! My favorite is batik!
This pattern makes full use of a pack of 40 strips by adding a piano key border, which can also be pieced using fat quarters. You can also add a solid fabric border if you prefer. Fabric requirements are as follows:
1 set of 2 1/2 inch strips, 1 3/4 yard of fabric for large squares, 1/2 yard for inner border, if you desire to use a plain outer border you will need 1 yard.
If you would like to use fat quarters, you will need 7 fat quarters for the center, and 6 for the pieced border.
Easy to make, strip piecing makes this pattern very quick and perfect for a beginner quilter.
Finished quilt measures 56 x 72 inches. Beginner Friendly Pattern
